According to the Hanafi school, Qurbani is Wajib (obligatory) on every Muslim adult who owns wealth above the Nisab threshold. In the Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools, it is a highly recommended Sunnah Mu'akkadah โ€” but not obligatory. If you follow Hanafi fiqh, treat it as you would Wajib.
